Hello.

Welcome to my blog in which I document my golfing adventures.

Torrance Course, Fairmont St Andrews

Although it might have the higher land circling the hotel there are some whimsical and whins-ical links delights to be found.

Sam cannot have intended that a couple of his original holes (17 & 18) were pinched for the Kittocks course.  I don’t know whether that meant that more of the shorter par 4s appear here or that a couple of holes, played almost in parallel, are pretty similar but it does slightly denude the course.  As mentioned elsewhere 17 and 18 on the Kittocks are wonderful holes.  However as a lover of the shorter and more cerebral par 4 there was much to delight the eye and engage the mind.

The soil make up is obviously the same as the Kittocks and everything is as well attended as the other course so it was a lovely place to play with fine views of St Andrews.  It would be a good opening round for a tour

A special mention for the lunch which was excellent with views to stimulate or bathe in.  The non golfer can enjoy a good walk along the coastal path to St Andrews.

I must thank Fairmont St Andrews for allowing me to pay my Green Fee to Alzheimer’s Society for which I am very grateful.  It has been a tough year for courses and for charities so it is especially appreciated.  I hope our contribution at lunchtime helped keep things ticking over.
